Heute war das Ziel die Besichtiung von Philadelphia im US-Bundesstaat Pennsylvania. Mit rund 1.5 Mio. Einwohnern ist sie die f\u00fcnftgr\u00f6sste Stadt der Vereinigten Staaten und die gr\u00f6sste des Bundesstaates Pennsylvania. An der Ostk\u00fcste ist Philadelphia nach New York City die zweitgr\u00f6sste Stadt. Die Stadt liegt am Delaware River im Zentrum der Metropolregion Delaware Valley.<\/p>\n

In der Geschichte der USA ist Philadelphia eine der bedeutendsten St\u00e4dte. Nach New York und vor Washington war sie 1790\u20131800 Nationalhauptstadt und damals die gr\u00f6sste Stadt der USA sowie nach London die zweitgr\u00f6sste englischsprachige Stadt der Welt. In Philadelphia tagte der erste und teilweise auch der zweite Kontinentalkongress sowie der Verfassungskonvent von 1787, die Amerikanische Unabh\u00e4ngigkeitserkl\u00e4rung wurde hier verk\u00fcndet und die Verfassung beschlossen.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia wird umgangssprachlich Philly oder City of Brotherly Love genannt, was von einer \u00dcbersetzung des griechischen Namens Philadelphia herr\u00fchrt (Bruderliebe\u2018). <\/p>\n

Als wir in Phili eintrafen, waren wir erstaunt wieviele Amis sich die Museen und Ausstellungen anschauten. Der Ort ist ja auch Geschichtstr\u00e4chtig und man ben\u00f6tigt 2-3 Tage um alles zu sehen…<\/p>\n
